The Yakima Hops picked up a win at Hops Park, knocking off the Tacoma Fur Traders, 7-4. Starting pitcher Emílio Mavarro was an essential part of his team's success. In 6.2 innings, Mavarro surrendered 1 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The third-place Hops now have a win-loss record of 26-17.
Mitchell Hobbs was a key contributor to the win for the Hops. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a home run to right-center. He went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Mavarro said.
