Farmers Fall to Loons, 5-3
|
In a close game at Farmers Field, the Minnesota Loons edged the Lancaster Farmers, 5-3. Minnesota third baseman Jorge Arreola earned the nod as player of the game after he went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ramón Martínez, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 2-5. José Juárez earned his 3rd save in 3 tries.
When the Loons needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Arreola who delivered. Facing Lancaster pitcher Sergio Zamora the top of the second with runners on 1st and 2nd, Arreola hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 4-0.
Lancaster manager Omer van Osch said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
At 13-20, the Loons find themselves in 8th place in the Silver AA.
