Behind Hawks, Mermen Beat Sixshooters, 2-1
|
The Myrtle Beach Mermen got a stellar performance from pitcher Ernest Hawks, who handcuffed the Westwood offense en route to a 2-1 win at Tennille Grounds. With the win, the Mermen improved to 14-18.
Hawks was effective against the Sixshooters. The right-hander limited Westwood to just 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings. Not many balls were hit hard against him.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Hawks told the Myrtle Beach Times.
