Blue Sox Top Rails, 4-3
|
The Blue Sox had to overcome a fine performance from Richland pitcher Barney Starr to grab a 4-3 win at Rails Ballpark. Starr went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Irving starter António Muñóz was credited with the win after throwing 119 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Jim Unknown was credited with the save for Irving, his 1st of the season.
Had it not been for Armando Becerra, the results might have been different. In the top of the seventh inning, when the Blue Sox were trailing 3-2, Becerra hit a 2-run single for Irving, giving his team the lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Irving skipper John Parkinson. "I can't complain."
With the win, Irving boosts its record to 7-5.
