Loons Come Up Short at Myrtle Beach
Both teams had their chances, but the Myrtle Beach Mermen eventually prevailed at Tennille Grounds.

The Myrtle Beach Mermen beat the Minnesota Loons, 7-1, at Tennille Grounds. David Vázquez was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The 30-year old catcher was a menace to Minnesota all day. The Myrtle Beach Mermen, now 4-0, have been playing some good baseball.

Vázquez came through with some timely hitting for Myrtle Beach. With the score 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Vázquez hit a 1-0 fastball for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season -- and a big reason the Mermen managed to win.

Vázquez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
