Rapiers Suffer 6-3 Loss to Rails
|
Richland and Durham duked it out at Rapiers Ballpark and the Rails came out victorious.
Despite a great performance by Durham designated hitter Armando Chamú, the Richland Rails defeated the Rapiers by the score of 6-3 at Rapiers Ballpark. Chamú was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Shotaro Sugahara, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Jorge Mejía earned the save for Richland, his 2nd.
In the top of the second inning, left fielder Mike Gillespie came through big-time for the Rails. With Richland leading 1-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Gillespie told the Richland Bulletin.
The loss drops Durham to 2-2.
