Ghosts Get One-Run Win at Ottawa
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Ottawa Nationals home opener. Preston Connely started for the home team against Jeremy de Vos for the Casper Ghosts. The Nationals were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 7-5, Casper. Bert Cook was named player of the game.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Roberto De La Cruz came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded and the Ghosts trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Casper on top.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Cook. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
