Hotspur Saddle Patriots with 7-4 Loss
|
The Phoenix Hotspur beat the Boston Patriots, 7-4, at Chase Field. The Hotspur got a fine performance from right fielder Rafael Sánchez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Phoenix reliever Jaime van de Weideven was credited with the win, to go to 3-1. Pancho Padilla took the loss for Boston. The third-place Hotspur now have a win-loss record of 23-16.
Kyle Bywaters contributed an important at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped send Phoenix to the win.
In postgame remarks, Sánchez said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
