Red Pandas Stick Belugas with 5-1 Loss
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas did just enough to secure a 5-1 victory over the Brinkley Belugas at Belugas Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher José Trujillo, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Trujillo, now 2-12. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Harold Taylor, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Tim Barnes in the top of the eighth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Red Pandas leading 2-1, the Sioux Falls second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Sioux Falls Red Pandas manager Barry Embling. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
With the win, Sioux Falls has a record of 33-66. Brinkley falls to 44-55.
