Belugas Topple Red Pandas as Jones Shines
|
Brinkley beat Sioux Falls at Belugas Ballpark, escaping with a 10-3 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Steve Jones, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Brinkley, at 44-54, occupies 10th place in the Menard's AAA.
Jones came through with some timely hitting for Brinkley. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Jones hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was his 93rd hit of the season -- and a big reason the Belugas managed to win.
Jones told a Brinkley News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
