|
José Guillén was superb against Brinkley. Guillén, who is tied for 7th in the 3AAA in innings pitched with 113.1, had a change up that was virtually unhittable at times. Picking up the save was Ron Yarbrough, his 2nd. With the win, Santa Barbara goes to 40-38, while the Belugas fall to 35-43.
James Pike's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant for the Golden Cranes. Coming to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Santa Barbara leading 3-2, the left fielder hit a run-scoring single.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Pike. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
