Longnecks Pin 4-3 Loss on Golden Cranes
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes got a superb performance from right fielder Daniel Maldonado. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bloomington. The Longnecks won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Maldonado was named the player of the game. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Bloomington starter Miguel Cervantes was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 11-4. Richard Sykes picked up the save for Bloomington, his 15th of the year.
In the top of the 3rd, the Longnecks grabbed the lead on a two-out home run by Shahid Afridi. Bloomington at the time was trailing 1-0, but Afridi's 3-run home run off José Guillén put his team in front.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Afridi told the Bloomington Bulletin.
The Longnecks have now won 4 straight.
