Belugas Come Up Short at Ellenburg
|
Benefiting from the performance of Edwin Berns, the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds defeated the Brinkley Belugas, 7-4. Berns was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Fighting Dachsunds. Ron Anderson got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. An Jang-Yop, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
Berns had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Don Teehan, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Fighting Dachsunds a 4-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Berns.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Berns, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The third-place Fighting Dachsunds have won 4 straight games.
