Timber Hawks Walk Off with Win

Brinkley got a terrific performance from right fielder Steve Jones, but it wasn't enough to beat the Augusta Timber Hawks. Augusta won the Timber Hawks Ballpark contest, 8-7. Jones was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Earnest Cogan picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Don Teehan was tagged with the loss. Augusta's record now stands at 22-31, placing them 10th in the Menard's AAA.
The Timber Hawks were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Kenny Fleming turned a 1-1 fastball from Don Teehan into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Augusta a thrilling 8-7 win.
When asked about his performance after the game, Fleming said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
