Men Get Past Scranton for 5-4 Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Florida Men eventually prevailed at Nuclear Stadium.
Florida overcame a superlative game from Elroy Thompkins to beat Scranton, 5-4. The Scranton pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Tomás Vargas was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Florida grabbed control in the top of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, Spencer Landes delivered a 2-run double, to make it 5-3 in favor of the Men.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Scranton manager Henry Russell said following the tough loss.
This win makes it 1 in a row for Florida.
