The Augusta Timber Hawks were defeated, 6-3, by the Brinkley Belugas. Leading the charge for Brinkley was shortstop Orlando Velásquez. He was 2 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alejandro Araya was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and no strikeouts. Bob Roth closed the door for Brinkley, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Bernardo Hernández contributed an important at-bat in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly. It was one at-bat that helped send Brinkley to the win.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hernández told the Brinkley News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
Today's win puts Brinkley at 18-15, while Augusta falls to 12-21.
