Hernández never let Sioux Falls get something going. The Brinkley right-hander commanded his forkball in pitching the Belugas to a win. Brinkley, now 7-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Early in the game, shortstop Mario Álvarez had a run-scoring double for Brinkley. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Belugas on top, 2-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Hernández, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
