Mathes Stars in Evergreens Win
|
With left fielder Charles Mathes leading the charge, the Portland Evergreens defeated the Las Vegas Flamingos, 6-4, at The Strip. Mathes belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Portland has an impressive 24-12 record.
Mathes turned the game around in the top of the eighth. Facing Enrique García, the Portland left fielder rapped a 2-run home run. Suddenly, the 4-3 Portland deficit turned into a 5-4 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Mathes told the Portland Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
