Flamingos Lose to Evergreens, 5-4
|
The Portland Evergreens picked up a win at Evergreen Park, knocking off the Las Vegas Flamingos, 5-4. Starting pitcher Jesús Medina was an essential part of his team's success. Ricardo Gómez earned the save, his 4th, for the Evergreens. The Evergreens sit in second place in the Third League with a record of 23-11.
Adrián Gómez's at-bat in the bottom of the fifth was significant for the Evergreens. Coming to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Portland leading 4-1, the catcher hit a sacrifice fly.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Gómez told the Portland Daily.
