1837 BBC Lose, 4-3, at 84s Field
|
The Greenville 84s defeated the Houston 1837 BBC, 4-3, in Third League action at 84s Field. Jonathan Cook received player of the game honors. The 10-year veteran went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. Mario Ruíz closed the door for Greenville, picking up his 3rd save of the year. The 84s saw their win-loss record go to 19-8. At the same time, the 1837 BBC fall to 17-10.
Tied up with the 1837 BBC in the bottom of the sixth, the 84s got a boost from second baseman Joe Craig. With a runner on 2nd, Craig saw a 0-2 fastball from Marvin Martin and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Greenville on top, 4-3.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Cook told the Greenville Chronicle.
