Rivera Powers BC to 10-5 Win
|
Philadelphia 1776 played host to Las Vegas at the friendly confines of Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum.
BC third baseman Fernando Rivera put his stamp on his team's 10-5 win over the Las Vegas Flamingos. Rivera was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia 1776 in the contest. The winner was Raúl Melro, who threw 99 pitches over 5.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits.
Rivera came through with some timely hitting for Philadelphia 1776. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth and no one down, Rivera hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season -- and a big reason the BC managed to win.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Philadelphia 1776 skipper Kyle Norton.
The loss lowers the record for Las Vegas to 13-7.
