Flamingos Defeat Bowties, 5-4
|
Las Vegas right-hander Melvin Haney made an effective start against the Buckhead Bowties at The Strip, leading his team to a 5-4 win. The winning pitcher was Haney, now 2-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. Enrique García locked down his 1st save.
Xavier Hernández dealt the Bowties a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Las Vegas trailing 2-0, Hernández, who is tied for 5th in the 3L in triples with 1, hit a 1-0 slider for a run-scoring double.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hernández told the Las Vegas Today.
Las Vegas is off to a hot start at 10-4.
