84s Suffer 7-4 Setback
|
The Greenville 84s got a superb performance from designated hitter Jorge Barrios. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Las Vegas. The Flamingos won the game, 7-4. In spite of the loss, Barrios was named the player of the game. He was 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Shunen Takahashi got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings. Bartolo Ramírez earned the save, his 2nd, for the Flamingos.
A defensive miscue in the top of the seventh could have cost the Flamingos. With Las Vegas leading 4-3, Chris McKinney reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. In the end, Las Vegas was still able to win the ballgame.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban.
The win gives the Flamingos a record of 7-4.
