Romero Helps Divided Run Win Streak to 3
|
With second baseman Tony Romero leading the charge, the D.C. Divided defeated the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 9-5, at Washington Stadium. Romero, who is tied for 6th in the SL in stolen bases with 24, went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. D.C. starter Ji Jing was credited with the win after throwing 111 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 12-7. Luis Fernández was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.
With D.C. leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Romero hit a slider from Bartolo Ruíz for a bases-clearing double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Divided ahead, 4-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said D.C. skipper Jonathan Gerth. "That makes everyone's life easier."
D.C. has now won 3 in a row.
