The Grafton Middies got a stellar effort from pitcher Luis Torres, helped Grafton score a 6-2 win over the visiting Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. Torres picked up the win for Grafton, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 8-3. The Middies move to 45-53 with the win, while the Northern Lions BC drop to 42-56.
Tied up with the Northern Lions BC in the bottom of the fifth, the Middies got a boost from designated hitter Orlando Reyes. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Reyes saw a 1-2 cutter from Ramón Molina and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Grafton on top, 3-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Reyes told the Grafton Today.
