The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC eeked out a 4-3 win versus the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at Great Northern Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tyler MacHugh, who captured player of the game honors. Thunder Bay reliever Mauro Guerra picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Darren Garland was saddled with the loss. The Northern Lions BC raised their record to 41-53.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th. That's when Thunder Bay second baseman Terumoto Kurihara, facing Darren Garland, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Northern Lions BC the 4-3 win.
"I like what I saw today," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
