Great Day for Niemann in Hotspur Win
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves and Phoenix Hotspur provided some drama at Wolf Den in Vancouver.
Alex Niemann left his imprint on the 9-2 Phoenix win against the Vancouver Grey Wolves. Niemann, who is the 9th-best prospect in the Hotspur organization, went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Santiago Alonza picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-2. He struck out 6 in 5.1 innings. Joey Dudley notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
The Hotspur ran into trouble in the bottom of the fourth. The score was 5-2, Phoenix, with one out. Vancouver, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had Logan Namajunas at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he struck out and the Hotspur went on to win.
At 54-29, the Hotspur have a slim two-game lead in the Silver League.
