With second baseman Pedro Santos leading the charge, the Grafton Middies defeated the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 6-4, at Atlantica. Santos, who leads the SL with a .322 batting average, went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs. The win was credited to Luis Torres in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Arnie Pittman took the loss. Lynwood Matos got credit for the save for Grafton. It was his 17th of the year.

In the top of the seventh inning, designated hitter Lúcio López came through big-time for the Middies. With Grafton leading 3-2, he belted a 3-run home run.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," López told the Grafton Observer.

The Middies own a robust 37-45 mark.
