|
Rocky Mountain overcame a superlative game from Wally Copeland to beat D.C., 5-1. The D.C. pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Ismael Barrios picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 3 in 6 innings. Carlos Trevino was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the first, Ron Ward hit a 2-run single for Rocky Mountain. The 29th hit of the season for the Rocky Mountain third baseman put the Nuggets on top, 2-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth said following the tough loss.
