Multi-HR Day for Kiyomizu as Rainbow Mermaids Overpower Middies, 6-4
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids did just enough to sneak past the Grafton Middies, 6-4, at Field of the Middies. Northern Virginia left fielder Shohei Kiyomizu earned player of the game honors. Natalino Golaio was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Northern Virginia is now 44-23, 2˝ games up in the Silver League.
Kiyomizu had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Allen Yohemas, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 5-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Kiyomizu.
"We've got a great group of guys," Kiyomizu said, "and we're having fun right now."
