Rainbow Mermaids Get 5-3 Win Versus Toledo
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Pacesetter Park, knocking off the Toledo Stingers, 5-3. On the mound for Northern Virginia was left-hander Raúl Gómez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ilie Paunescu finished the game for Northern Virginia and earned his 15th save. The Rainbow Mermaids go to 40-23, putting them second in the Silver League.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from Munemori Ohara. For the game, Ohara was 1-4 with a walk. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave Northern Virginia a 3-2 lead.
"Raúl is still learning," said Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lenlister. "The sky's the limit for him."
