Middies Prevail, 6-4, Over Rocky Mountain
|
Benefiting from the performance of Pedro Santos, the Grafton Middies defeated the Rocky Mountain Nuggets, 6-4. Santos went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Middies. Robbie Baxter earned the win to go to 5-6. He allowed 4 earned runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. Lynwood Matos picked up the save for Grafton, his 14th of the year.
In the bottom of the third, John Meléndez had a big 2-run single off Félix Jiménez. With the single, the Grafton center fielder put his team in front, 4-2. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs in the contest.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Santos said in reaction to the win.
Grafton goes to 27-33, Rocky Mountain to 26-34.
