Stingers Solve Aviators, 6-3
|
The Toledo Stingers did just enough to sneak past the Seattle Aviators, 6-3, at Pacesetter Park. Toledo pitcher Benny York earned player of the game honors. York went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-1. Ed Stark locked down his 2nd save.
Early in the game, second baseman Ismael Cabrera had a 2-run single for Toledo. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Stingers on top, 3-1.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid York.
The 5th-place Stingers are now 25-24, the Aviators 25-24.
