Rainbow Mermaids Continue Hot Start to Season with Win
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen got a superb performance from pitcher Jorge Rivera, but the Rainbow Mermaids still won the game, 2-1. Rivera was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Javier Desdin recorded the save for Northern Virginia, his 1st of the season. Northern Virginia has an impressive 26-11 record.
Roberto Sánchez had a clutch at-bat with no one out in the top of the seventh for the Rainbow Mermaids. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Northern Virginia trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
