Nuggets Suffer 5-3 Loss to Grey Wolves
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves picked up a win at Wolf Den in Vancouver, knocking off the Rocky Mountain Nuggets, 5-3. On the mound for Vancouver was right-hander Pedro Valdéz, who played a pivotal role in the win. Valdéz was the winning pitcher and moves to 5-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks. Alfonso Vera closed the door for Vancouver, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Springfield, New Hampshire-born Hank Scorpio came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Grey Wolves trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run triple to right-center to put Vancouver on top.
"I really like what we did out there today," Valdéz said after the game.
This win makes it 2 in a row for Vancouver.
