Getting a good performance from designated hitter Martinus Xhaka, the South Beach Blaze defeated the Columbia River Rats, 4-3. Xhaka was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Blaze. Arthur Clough earned the win for South Beach. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing no earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. Victor Lustig earned the save for South Beach, his 2nd of the year.
Ramiro Ramos broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Blaze in front, 4-3. For the game, Ramos drove in one run.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Columbia manager Joe Richard said following the tough loss.
South Beach, at 56-34, occupies first place in the Premier A.
