Blaze Reel Off Another Win
|
The exploits of right fielder Marcel Escoda helped the South Beach Blaze defeat the Alameda Airmen, 4-2. Escoda was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. South Beach reliever Nésto Gago got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Octávio Rodríguez was tagged with the loss. The first-place Blaze now have a 9-game winning streak.
Tied up with the Airmen in the top of the fourth, the Blaze got a boost from left fielder Ramiro Ramos. With the bases empty, Ramos saw a 1-1 cutter from Octávio Rodríguez and hit a solo home run to break the stalemate and put South Beach on top, 2-1.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said South Beach manager Lockwood Rose.
