Chalmers Slugs Nuggets to 8-3 Win
With catcher Gary Chalmers leading the charge, the Rocky Mountain Nuggets defeated the Grafton Middies, 8-3, at Nuggets Park. Chalmers, who is rated as the 6th best prospect by BNN, belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The Nuggets have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 7th win in 20 games.

Mark Melton's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Rocky Mountain second baseman hit a 2-run double off Dave Turner to put the Nuggets up.

Grafton manager Bill Cefaratti said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
