Plainsmen Suffer 6-3 Loss to Blaze

South Beach played host to Nebraska at the friendly confines of The Ballpark on the Beach.
The South Beach Blaze defeated the Nebraska Plainsmen, 6-3, in USPL Single A action at The Ballpark on the Beach, with South Beach pitcher Malulani Anakone named player of the game. The winning pitcher was Anakone, now 7-2. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 12. Nésto Gago got credit for the save for South Beach. It was his 9th of the year.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Blaze sent teenager Omer Yurtseven to the plate against Plainsmen hurler Alberto Bahe. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-1 curveball to score 2.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said South Beach manager Lockwood Rose.
The second-place Blaze have won 4 straight.
