Grafton beat Northern Virginia at Atlantica, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Allen Yohemas, who earned player of the game honors. Losses have been few and far between for the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids so far this season. Their record drops to 11-5.
In the top of the 5th, Grafton took the lead on a 2-run home run by Stefano Gaddi. At the time, the Middies were trailing 2-1, but Gaddi's hit with two outs against Northern Virginia pitcher Raúl Gómez put them in front, 3-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister.
