The bats were silent much of the day at Gators Ballpark. But Donatas Montiejunas conjured up just enough offense to carry the Cauldrons past the Mt. Vernon Bulls, 1-0. Montiejunas went 2-4 with 2 singles. Hogsmeade reliever Kenny McCulley picked up the win to move to 1-0. Martín Salazar suffered the loss. The 5th-place Cauldrons are now 13-11, the Bulls 12-12.

Montiejunas had a game-changing single in the bottom of the fourth. On a 2-1 fastball from Martín Salazar, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Cauldrons a 1-0 lead. It was the 25th hit of the year for Montiejunas.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Hogsmeade manager .
