Black Cats Come Up Short at South Beach
|
The South Beach Blaze eeked out a 5-4 win versus the Gwinnett County Black Cats at The Ballpark on the Beach. Nobody did more than pitcher Malulani Anakone, who captured player of the game honors. Anakone was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-0. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. Hiro Kurasawa got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Raymond Graham was a key contributor to the win for the Blaze. In the bottom of the first with two out, the light-hitting first baseman stroked a double to left. He went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Anakone told the South Beach Observer.
South Beach, now 11-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.
