Divided Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 6-5

D.C. right fielder Mike Gardner had a terrific game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Northern Virginia beat the Divided, 6-5. Gardner was named the player of the game despite the loss. Northern Virginia starter Aurelio López was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Earning his 1st save of the year was Harold Elkins.
Ethan Miller's at-bat in the top of the fourth was significant for the Rainbow Mermaids. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Northern Virginia leading 1-0, the catcher hit a sacrifice fly.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister.
The Divided fall to 7-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2027 season.
