10-7 Win by Blaze Continues Hot Start
|
The South Beach Blaze knocked off the Nebraska Plainsmen, 10-7, at Plain Old Stadium. Francisco Agámez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason South Beach won. The center fielder was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Gob Bluth earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 4 earned runs on 10 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Leoncio Ulibarri was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Da-Quan Hawkins-Muckle went 1 for 4 with a double against the Plainsmen. In the top of the first inning, he hit a sacrifice fly, putting South Beach in front, 1-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Hawkins-Muckle said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
South Beach, now 5-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
