The Niagara Falls Expos got a stellar performance from pitcher Santo Velazco, who handcuffed the South Beach offense en route to a 8-1 win at The Ballpark on the Beach. Velazco, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. The win gives Niagara Falls a record of 3-2.

In the top of the second, Danijel van Aalten hit a run-scoring double for Niagara Falls. The 2nd double of the season for the Niagara Falls right fielder put the Expos on top, 1-0.
