Tula Topple Bruins with Late Rally
|
The Chicago Tula picked up a win at Bellevue Field, knocking off the Bellevue Bruins, 7-2. Starting pitcher Iwane Chihara, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The 9th-place Tula are now 29-50, the Bruins 43-36.
The most important at-bat for Chicago came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Howard Ickes stroked a 1-0 cutter to left for a run-scoring single, putting Chicago up, 3-2.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Ickes.
