Bruins Turn Back Syracuse, 5-4
|
Syracuse got a terrific performance from pitcher António Muñóz, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bellevue Bruins. Bellevue won the Storm Park contest, 5-4. Muñóz was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Loren Berdine got credit for the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings. Picking up the save was Jin Kwon, his 19th.
Bellevue took the lead in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ramón Ramírez stroked a 2-run triple to make it 4-2, Bruins.
Ramírez told the Bellevue Bulletin: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The Storm have now dropped 10 straight.
