Bruins Top Hotspur U-21, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Bellevue Field. But Domingo Colón conjured up just enough offense to carry the Bruins past the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 3-1. Colón was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs. Bellevue reliever Carlos Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Morris Prinkey was saddled with the loss. Bellevue has now won 3 straight, while the Hotspur U-21 have lost 3 in a row.
Lorenzo Díaz, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Morris Prinkey for a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season put Bellevue in front, 2-1.
Colón said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
