The Syracuse Storm got a strong performance from pitcher Jim Unknown, who stymied the Walla Walla offense en route to a 4-2 win at Walleye Tank. Syracuse goes to 36-30, Walla Walla to 30-36.
Unknown, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited performance. The hurler struck out 6 in 7.2 innings and gave up no earned runs. Unknown raised his record to 1-0 on the year with 6 strikeouts.
Unknown told the Syracuse Today: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
