Hotspur U-21 Come Back Late to Clip Walleye
|
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 picked up a win at Hotspur Kiddie Complex, knocking off the Walla Walla Walleye, 2-1. Starting pitcher José Ruíz played a key role in the triumph. Ruíz picked up the win for Phoenix, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Richard Osborn recorded the save for Phoenix, his 10th of the season.
Jason DeGeorge found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Walla Walla hurler Homer Robertson, the 19-year-old left fielder hit a run-scoring single. His 41st hit of the season put the Hotspur U-21 on top, 2-1.
"I had a good game," said Ruíz. "Winning makes it even better."
